On the calm evening of October 11, 1973, in the industrial town of Pascagoula, Mississippi, two shipyard workers, Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker, sat by the river after a long day’s labor. What happened next would not only haunt them for the rest of their lives, but become one of the most disturbing and credible alien abduction cases ever recorded.

At around 9:00 PM, a strange, blueish light descended from the sky. The two men reported that a silently hovering, oval-shaped craft appeared near the riverbank. Frozen in fear, they watched as a hatch opened—and three beings emerged.

They weren’t the stereotypical “little green men.” These creatures were eerily different: metallic gray in color, with robotic movements. Their arms were long, ending in mitten-like hands, and their heads were shaped like bullets, with what seemed to be cones where ears and noses should be. Their legs didn’t bend as they glided toward the men, as if on invisible rails.

Hickson and Parker described being paralyzed and levitated into the craft, where they underwent a series of examinations. Parker, only 19 at the time, later described a floating eye scanning his body, as though reading his insides. Time fractured. Sound disappeared. Then—just as suddenly—they were back on the riverbank.

Disoriented and terrified, they drove to the local sheriff’s office to report what happened. Unbeknownst to them, their entire conversation was secretly recorded. On the tape, they can be heard speaking with genuine fear, voices shaking, not knowing they were being monitored. Hickson can be heard saying, “Jesus Christ, God have mercy. I thought I’d been through enough hell on this earth, and now I’ve got to go through something like this.”

Skeptics initially dismissed the event, but years of polygraph tests, hypnosis sessions, and interviews never yielded any proof of deception. Calvin Parker, who remained silent for decades, eventually wrote a book in 2018, revealing more about what he claimed was just the beginning of multiple encounters.

What makes the Pascagoula case especially chilling is its sheer strangeness. The robotic creatures don’t match typical alien folklore. The levitation. The silence. The loss of time. The beings who seemed more like machines than lifeforms.
